Position Overview:
The Internal Auditor plays a crucial role in assessing the efficacy of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes within the hotel. This position involves scrutinizing financial, operational, and compliance activities to ensure alignment with hotel policies, relevant laws, and industry benchmarks. The successful candidate will identify areas for improvement, propose enhancements, and collaborate with the management team to achieve operational excellence and maintain financial integrity.
Primary Responsibilities:
Perform systematic audits across various hotel departments (including Front Office, F&B, Housekeeping, Procurement, and Finance)
Examine and assess internal controls, processes, and procedures for efficiency and effectiveness
Verify adherence to corporate policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
Probe irregularities, pinpoint risks, and suggest remedial actions
Compile comprehensive audit reports detailing findings and recommendations for management review
Track the implementation of audit recommendations to ensure follow-through
Evaluate the adequacy of asset protection measures and fraud prevention mechanisms
Support external audit processes by furnishing relevant internal documentation and insights
Scrutinize financial statements and supporting documents for accuracy and completeness
Undertake special audits or investigations as directed by senior management
Qualifications:
Educational Background & Professional Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
3-5 years of internal auditing experience, preferably within the hospitality sector
Robust understanding of accounting principles, audit methodologies, and hotel operations
Core Competencies & Abilities:
Exceptional analytical and critical thinking capabilities
Meticulous attention to detail and proficiency in identifying financial discrepancies
Adept at using Microsoft Office (particularly Excel); familiarity with hotel PMS/ERP systems (e.g., Opera, MICROS, SunSystems) is advantageous
Demonstrates high levels of integrity and professionalism
Superior verbal and written communication skills
Capacity to work autonomously and manage multiple tasks concurrently
Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations in the hospitality industry
