Job Title: Payroll Officer
Location: Lagos
Job type: Full-time Role Purpose & Strategic Objective
The Payroll Officer executes monthly multi-currency payroll administration, statutory PAYE withholdings, pension remittances, and statutory fund filings for client entities operating in Nigeria and West Africa.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables
Payroll Computation: Calculate monthly gross-to-net salaries, PAYE tax withholdings, pension deductions, and net pay in NGN and USD. Payslip Issuance: Generate and send electronic payslips to client staff. Disbursement Schedules: Prepare bank payment files for net salary settlements.
LIRS / State PAYE: Remit monthly PAYE tax to relevant State Boards of Internal Revenue (e.g., LIRS) by the 10th of each month. Pension Reform Act 2014: Process monthly pension contributions (8% employee / 10% employer) to Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs). Statutory Funds: Remit monthly/annual contributions for ITF, NSITF, and NHF.
Payroll Accounting & EOR
Ledger Posting: Prepare monthly payroll posting journals and reconcile clearing accounts. EOR Coordination: Administer Employer of Record (EOR) payrolls for international remote workers in West Africa.
Qualifications & Experience Requirements
Education: BSc/HND in Accounting, Finance, or Human Resource Management. Experience: 3 to 5 years of specialized payroll administration experience in Nigeria. Payroll Systems: Proficiency in Sage Payroll, IPPIS/local Nigerian payroll software, or Odoo Payroll. Statutory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Personal Income Tax Act (PITA), Pension Reform Act 2014, and labor regulations.
Multicultural Acceptance: Respectful, clear communication with staff across diverse cultural background. Data Integrity: High precision in payroll calculations and strict employee confidentiality. Deadline Discipline: Timely submission of state and federal statutory remittances.
