Protection and Responsibility Assurance Specialist

TBSF, with backing from United Nation Mine Action Service (UNMAS), is looking for a highly competent and experienced Safeguarding and Accountability Officer to join our organization. The chosen candidate will spearhead safeguarding and accountability initiatives, ensuring our organization upholds the highest standards of protection and responsibility.

Location: Maiduguri, Borno State (with regular travel to Local Government Areas where the project will be implemented).

Responsibilities

Functions / Daily activities:


Create and implement safeguarding policies, procedures, and guidelines
Organize safeguarding training and capacity-building programs for staff and partners
Examine and address safeguarding concerns and incidents
Guarantee compliance with accountability frameworks and standards
Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, partners, and government agencies
Offer technical support and guidance on safeguarding and accountability to staff
Enhance the capacity of staff and partners to implement safeguarding and accountability mechanisms
Engage in organizational meetings and committees related to safeguarding and accountability
Carry out other tasks assigned by the supervisor


Requirements:


Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., social work, law, international development)
Minimum of 2 years of experience in safeguarding, accountability, or a related field
Demonstrated track record of developing and implementing safeguarding policies and procedures
Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills
Capability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
Experience working with vulnerable populations (e.g., children, women, marginalized groups)
Familiarity with accountability mechanisms and complaint response procedures
Training or certification in safeguarding, child protection, or a related field
Comprehensive knowledge of safeguarding principles and practices
Must possess a functional laptop

Language Proficiency: Fluent in English and either Kanuri or Hausa.
Interpersonal Abilities: Strong people skills, able to build effective relationships and maintain effective communication with diverse community groups and stakeholders.
Presentation Skills: Exceptional presentation abilities, with the capacity to engage and captivate an audience.
Organizational Competence: Outstanding organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
