The Tax and Treasury Officer is responsible for managing the organization’s fixed asset account, tax compliance, reporting, and planning, as well as overseeing treasury operations including cash management, liquidity forecasting, and banking relationships. This role ensures that all tax obligations are met accurately and on time while optimizing the company’s cash flow and financial risk exposure.

Job Responsibilities

Statutory remittances; monthly computation and remittances of VAT, WHT, PAYE, NSITF, ITF (quarterly) and pension. Check the GLs to correctly reclassify the expense. Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the organization. Assist in tax planning strategies to optimize the company’s tax position. Maintain accurate and up-to-date tax records and documentation. Prepare tax provisions, deferred tax calculations, and related financial disclosures. Enforces payment of outstanding taxes. Support tax audits and liaise with external tax advisors and tax authorities.

Manage daily cash operations, including monitoring cash balances, funds transfers, and payment processing. Prepare short-term and long-term cash flow forecasts to support liquidity planning. Maintain and manage banking relationships, including account openings, closures, and signatory updates. Monitor foreign exchange exposure and assist in hedging strategies (e.g., forward contracts, swaps). Oversee and manage intercompany loans, borrowings, and investment activities. Ensure compliance with internal treasury policies, covenants, and regulatory requirements. Prepare treasury reports and analysis for management review.

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Professional certifications such as ACCA, ICAN, or equivalent are an advantage. 3 - 6 years of relevant experience in the role. Proficiency in preparing Financial Statements and expertise in Financial Reporting A deep understanding of Finance principles. Professional certifications such as ACCA, ICAN, or equivalent are an advantage. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and treasury management systems (TMS). Familiarity with statutory remittance processes and compliance frameworks is preferred. Strong Analytical Skills, problem-solving, and organisation skills. Excellent Communication skills for collaborating with team members and stakeholders. Detail-oriented and proactive with the ability to meet deadlines.
