We are seeking a qualified and experienced Accountant for a company with operations across multiple branches. The successful candidate will oversee accounting functions, ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain effective financial controls and support management decision-making.

 Financial Accounting & Reporting:

Oversee the company's accounting records and financial transactions. Prepare monthly and periodic financial statements and management reports. Analyse revenue, expenses, profitability, cash flow and other financial information. Review financial records and schedules prepared by the bookkeeping function. Ensure accounting records are complete, accurate and maintained on time.

Review bank, cash, sales, purchase, receivable and payable reconciliations. Monitor financial transactions across the company's branches. Investigate significant discrepancies and ensure appropriate corrective action. Monitor financial controls to reduce errors, losses and unauthorised transactions. Review branch financial reports and identify unusual or inconsistent transactions.

Monitor the accounting treatment and valuation of inventory. Review stock movement and inventory reports across branches. Analyse inventory variances and investigate significant discrepancies. Monitor cost of goods sold, gross margins and other relevant financial indicators. Support management in analysing the financial implications of bulk purchases and sales.

Oversee customer receivables and supplier payables. Review outstanding customer balances and supplier obligations. Monitor credit transactions and payment schedules. Ensure proper reconciliation of customer and supplier accounts. Provide management with updates on significant outstanding balances.

Maintain appropriate records required for tax and statutory compliance. Support the preparation and filing of applicable tax returns and statutory obligations. Ensure accounting practices comply with relevant accounting standards and applicable regulations. Liaise with external accountants, auditors, tax consultants or relevant authorities when required.

Provide management with financial information and analysis to support business decisions. Assist in budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow planning. Identify financial trends, risks and areas requiring management attention. Recommend improvements to accounting processes and financial controls. Prepare financial schedules and reports as requested by management.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's degree or HND in Accounting, Finance or a related field. Professional accounting qualification such as ICAN, ACCA or equivalent is an advantage. 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience. Experience in a trading and inventory-based business is an advantage. Good knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations, inventory accounting and statutory compliance. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.

Strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills. Integrity and sound financial judgment. Ability to analyse large volumes of transactions and financial data. Good communication and reporting skills. Ability to manage deadlines and work independently.
