Job Title: Asset and Liability Management Officer
Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time Duties
Liquidity monitoring: Prepare daily and periodic cash-flow positions, liquidity forecasts, maturity-gap reports and liquidity-buffer analyses for review by the Treasurer. ALM reporting: Compile accurate ALM dashboards and management information covering asset and liability profiles, funding concentration, portfolio yield, cash drag, deployment levels and emerging risks. Balance-sheet analysis: Analyse the mix, tenor, pricing, currency and repricing characteristics of assets and liabilities and identify mismatches or adverse trends. Funding support: Track funding sources, maturity profiles, cost of funds and concentration exposures; support the evaluation and execution of approved funding initiatives. Investment deployment monitoring: Monitor mobilised funds, deployed funds, investment maturities, expected cash inflows and unused cash balances to support efficient deployment and minimise cash drag. Profitability analysis: Calculate and analyse gross portfolio yield, investor return, funding cost, manager spread, product profitability and opportunity cost, clearly documenting assumptions and variances. Risk monitoring: Monitor liquidity, tenor-mismatch, repricing, foreign-exchange, reinvestment, concentration and market risks against approved limits and escalate exceptions promptly. Scenario analysis and stress testing: Perform sensitivity analysis and stress tests for withdrawals, yield movements, delayed deployment, asset impairment and other approved scenarios. ALCO support: Prepare schedules, charts and analytical commentary for ALCO papers; maintain meeting records, track approved actions and follow up with accountable owners. Transaction and data reconciliation: Reconcile relevant ALM data with Treasury, Finance, Portfolio Management, Operations and custodian records, investigating and resolving discrepancies. Policy and limit compliance: Support adherence to approved ALM policies, delegated authorities, regulatory limits, Shariah requirements and internal controls. Market intelligence: Monitor financial-market developments, liquidity conditions, Sukuk yields, competitor pricing and other indicators relevant to funding and investment decisions. Audit and regulatory support: Provide schedules, reconciliations, evidence and explanations required for internal audit, external audit, regulatory review and management assurance. Process improvement: Recommend practical improvements to ALM models, reports, data quality, controls and workflow efficiency.
Roles Accountabilities
Prepare complete, accurate and timely ALM analysis for review and decision-making. Escalate actual or potential limit breaches, liquidity shortfalls, material maturity gaps, adverse stress-test outcomes and data-quality issues promptly. Implement approved ALCO and Treasury actions within assigned authority and maintain a clear audit trail. Do not commit funds, approve transactions, amend limits or represent an analysis as approved without the appropriate delegated authority.
Qualification and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or a related discipline. A relevant professional qualification or progress towards CFA, ACA, ACCA, FRM, ACI or an equivalent treasury, accounting or risk credential is desirable. Minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience in treasury, asset and liability management, portfolio management, financial analysis, market risk or a related financial-services function. Practical experience preparing liquidity reports, cash-flow forecasts, reconciliations, management dashboards or investment analyses is desirable. Knowledge of Nigerian financial markets and regulatory requirements; exposure to non-interest finance is an added advantage.
