The BSS Engineer is responsible for field-level operation, maintenance, fault restoration, installation, commissioning, and deployment of RAN and transmission equipment. The role involves attending telecom sites to troubleshoot and resolve eNodeB, radio, Microwave (MW), power, and associated transmission faults, while supporting new site deployment, integration, and acceptance.
Investigate and restore eNodeB and RAN faults, including hardware replacement and configuration checks Troubleshoot Microwave transmission link failures, link-down issues, low RSL, high BER, synchronisation, and capacity issues Participate in the deployment, installation, commissioning, integration, and acceptance of new RAN and MW sites Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance on RAN, MW, DC power systems, rectifiers, batteries, and grounding infrastructure Carry out corrective maintenance and emergency fault restoration within agreed service level agreements (SLAs) Perform basic troubleshooting of telecom DC power systems, breakers, and distribution panels Coordinate with the NOC and OEM vendor engineers for alarm management, technical escalations, software upgrades, and fault clearance Maintain accurate records and submit daily field activity, fault-resolution, and site deployment reports
HND and Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field
Minimum two years of directly relevant Telecoms Engineering experience. Hands-on experience with LTE and eNodeB equipment and a solid understanding of RAN architecture Practical experience troubleshooting BBU, RRU or RRH, and CPRI-related faults Hands-on experience with Microwave transmission equipment and knowledge of MW parameters Basic knowledge of IP, Ethernet, and transmission connectivity Basic knowledge of telecom site DC power systems and rectifiers Practical ability to read equipment alarms, use engineering test tools, and perform hardware fault isolation
Experience with Huawei, Ericsson, or Nokia RAN and Microwave equipment Previous experience working with mobile network operators, telecom vendors, or tower companies.
