Role Overview
Responsible for conducting laboratory and field tests on soil, asphalt, concrete, aggregates, and other construction materials to verify compliance with project specifications, standards, and quality requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesCollect, label, and prepare soil, aggregate, asphalt, and concrete samples for testing.
Perform soil tests, including moisture content, sieve analysis, Atterberg limits, compaction (Proctor), and CBR.
Perform concrete tests, including slump test, temperature, sampling, cube/cylinder preparation, and compressive-strength testing.
Perform asphalt tests, including asphalt sampling, aggregate gradation, bitumen/asphalt content, density, and Marshall or relevant mix-design tests.
Conduct field density testsusing sand-cone or nuclear density methods, where applicable.
Carry out field tests on concrete, soil, asphalt, and aggregates according to approved procedures.
Operate, clean, calibrate, and maintain laboratory and field-testing equipment.
Record test results accurately and prepare laboratory and field test reports.
QualificationsOND/HND/BSc in Civil Engineering, Geology, Building Technology, Materials Engineering, or a related field.
Practical experience in soil, asphalt, concrete, aggregate, and field testing.
Knowledge of construction-material testing standards and procedures.
Ability to operate laboratory and field-testing equipment.
Good record-keeping and reporting skills.
Ability to work on construction sites and in laboratory environments.
