We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Grove Crane Operator to operate and maintain Grove mobile cranes safely and efficiently at our operations in Apapa, Lagos. The successful candidate will be responsible for lifting, moving, positioning, and loading heavy materials and equipment while strictly adhering to operational, safety, and equipment-handling procedures.

Operate Grove mobile cranes safely and efficiently for lifting and material-handling activities. Conduct pre-start and daily inspections of the crane, including hydraulic systems, brakes, controls, wire ropes, hooks, tires, and safety devices. Verify load weights, lifting capacities, load charts, ground conditions, and crane configurations before each lift. Follow approved lifting plans, signals, and instructions from banksmen, riggers, and supervisors. Position and set up the crane correctly, including outriggers and stabilizers, before lifting operations. Perform lifting, lowering, loading, unloading, and positioning of materials and equipment. Maintain effective communication with riggers, signalers, supervisors, and other personnel during lifting operations. Report mechanical faults, defects, unsafe conditions, and incidents immediately. Maintain accurate crane operation and inspection records. Keep the crane clean and ensure proper care of equipment and accessories. Comply with company HSE policies, site procedures, and applicable lifting regulations. Stop lifting operations whenever unsafe conditions or equipment abnormalities are identified. Assist maintenance personnel during routine servicing and troubleshooting when required. Perform other crane-related duties assigned by the Operations Supervisor.

Requirements & Qualifications

Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience operating Grove mobile cranes or similar heavy-duty mobile cranes. Valid and relevant Crane Operator certification/licence recognized in Nigeria. Proven experience in heavy lifting, logistics, construction, port, or industrial operations. Strong knowledge of crane load charts, lifting capacity, rigging practices, and safe lifting procedures. Ability to interpret crane operating manuals and lifting plans. Good understanding of occupational health and safety requirements. Ability to work effectively with riggers, banksmen, supervisors, and other site personnel. Physically fit and capable of working in a demanding operational environment. Good communication and teamwork skills. Experience working in a port or industrial environment, particularly Apapa, will be an advantage.
