Head of Procurement

Position Overview


The ideal Head of Procurement candidate will be tasked with crafting and executing procurement strategies that support our company's goals.
This individual will guide a team of procurement experts and collaborate with various departments to ensure our procurement processes are streamlined, productive, and in line with regulatory standards.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities


Strategic Procurement Planning: Formulate and execute procurement strategies that support business objectives, optimize costs, and enhance operational efficiency.
Team Leadership: Oversee and nurture a team of procurement professionals, offering guidance, mentorship, and growth opportunities to equip the team for achieving procurement goals.
Procurement Management: Supervise the acquisition of goods, services, and works, ensuring all procurement activities adhere to company policies and procedures.
Vendor Relations: Establish and cultivate relationships with crucial suppliers to secure high-quality products and services at competitive rates.
Contract Administration: Negotiate, oversee, and manage supplier contracts, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and alignment with business objectives.
Risk Mitigation: Identify, evaluate, and address procurement-related risks to maintain compliance with regulations and business goals.
Financial Oversight: Develop and manage procurement budgets, ensuring all activities remain within budget constraints while minimizing costs.
Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely with internal clients, suppliers, and external partners to ensure procurement processes meet their requirements and expectations.
Process Improvement: Develop and implement efficient, effective, and compliant procurement systems and processes.
Performance Reporting: Provide regular updates and analytics on procurement performance, ensuring transparency, accountability, and regulatory compliance.
Quality Management: Ensure the implementation of QMS, FSMS, FSSC, OHSAS, and any future management systems within your department.


Qualifications and Experience


HND/B.Sc. in an Engineering discipline. Membership in the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply of Nigeria or London is required. Computer proficiency is essential. An MBA is advantageous.
Additional relevant professional certifications are beneficial.
Minimum 15 years of procurement experience, with at least 8 years in a leadership role. Experience in manufacturing, preferably in FMCG, is desirable.
