We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Head of Strategy & Business Development to lead our Business Development function and drive the strategic growth of the organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the general affairs of the Business Development Department, developing growth strategies, identifying new business opportunities, strengthening client relationships, and providing strategic recommendations to Management on opportunities that can improve the company’s revenue, market position, and overall business performance.
Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the Business Development Department. Develop and implement business growth strategies aligned with the organisation’s corporate objectives. Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the EPC, construction, oil & gas, energy and related sectors. Monitor market trends, industry developments, competitor activities and emerging opportunities to support strategic decision-making. Develop strategies for increasing the company’s revenue, client base, market share and project portfolio. Identify potential clients, partners, contractors and strategic business relationships. Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients. Lead the preparation, review and submission of Expression of Interest (EOI), Prequalification, Technical/Commercial Proposals and Tenders. Develop and maintain a robust business development pipeline and ensure effective follow-up on opportunities. Evaluate potential projects and provide Management with recommendations on commercial viability and strategic value. Develop strategies for entering new markets, expanding existing services and improving the company’s competitive position. Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, Finance, Procurement and other departments to ensure business opportunities are properly evaluated and pursued. Track business development performance, conversion rates, pipeline value and revenue opportunities. Prepare regular business development and strategic reports for Management. Provide Management with insights and recommendations on business expansion, partnerships, investments and other strategic initiatives. Oversee the general administration, performance and effectiveness of the Business Development Department. Represent the organisation at relevant industry meetings, networking events, conferences and client engagements. Ensure proper documentation, records and follow-up of all business development activities.

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, Economics, Management or a related field. A Master’s Degree or relevant professional qualification will be an added advantage. 8–10 years’ relevant experience, preferably within an EPC, construction, oil & gas, engineering or related industry. Proven experience in business development, strategic planning, tendering and commercial growth. Strong understanding of the Nigerian EPC, construction and oil & gas market. Demonstrable track record of identifying and converting business opportunities into projects. Strong knowledge of tendering, prequalification and client acquisition processes. Excellent negotiation, presentation, communication and relationship-management skills. Strong commercial awareness and ability to analyse business opportunities and market trends. Ability to develop and execute strategies with measurable business outcomes. Strong leadership, decision-making and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently while effectively coordinating with cross-functional teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and business development/CRM tools.
