 Job Title: Internal Auditor

Location: Osogbo, Osun

Employment Type: Full-time Job Description

The Internal Auditor will be responsible for reviewing and monitoring the hotel’s financial, operational, and administrative activities to ensure accuracy, compliance, accountability, and effective internal controls. The successful candidate will help identify financial risks, prevent fraud, and recommend improvements to hotel operations.

Conduct regular audits of hotel financial records, transactions, and operational activities. Review daily sales, revenue, expenses, purchases, payments, and receipts. Verify cash collections from the Front Office, Restaurant, Bar, POS, and other revenue-generating departments. Reconcile cash, bank, POS, and other payment records. Monitor inventory, stock movements, purchases, and consumption to identify discrepancies. Review hotel expenses and ensure proper authorization and documentation. Check compliance with established hotel policies, procedures, and financial controls. Identify irregularities, errors, waste, fraud risks, and financial discrepancies. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly audit reports for management. Follow up on previous audit findings and ensure corrective actions are implemented. Conduct surprise cash and stock checks when necessary. Work closely with the Finance, Accounts, Front Office, Procurement, Food & Beverage, and other departments. Maintain proper audit documentation and ensure confidentiality of financial information. Provide recommendations to management on improving internal controls and operational efficiency.

Bachelor's Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or a related field. Professional accounting qualifications such as ICAN, ANAN, ACCA, or relevant certification will be an added advantage.

5-15 years of relevant experience in internal auditing, accounting, or financial control. Previous experience in the hotel or hospitality industry is highly desirable. Experience with hotel accounting/POS systems and inventory control will be an advantage.

Strong knowledge of accounting and auditing principles. Excellent numerical and analytical skills. Good attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to identify discrepancies and financial irregularities. Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting software. Knowledge of hotel operations and hospitality accounting will be an advantage. Good communication and report-writing skills. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism. Ability to handle sensitive financial information responsibly.
