The company brings a multidisciplinary team of engineering, inspection, and construction professionals to deliver brownfield and greenfield projects across onshore and offshore facilities, with a focus on asset integrity, tank and vessel upgrades, mechanical and instrumentation works, and terminal automation. Leveraging local content expertise alongside international codes and standards (API, ASME, NACE/AMPP, and IEC), Ereyi Ventures is positioned to execute the Automated Crude Oil Storage Tanks Upgrade and Repair Services at an offshore terminal, combining indigenous capacity with the technical rigor required for safety-critical hydrocarbon storage infrastructure.  Job Title: Mechanical Testing and Commissioning Engineer

Location: Offshore, Delta  Role Objective

Lead the mechanical completion, testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of upgraded crude-oil storage tanks and associated piping, valves, pumps, and utility systems, ensuring safe handover and demonstrable compliance with approved design, codes, and project specifications.

Core Roles and Responsibilities

Lead pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for repaired/upgraded crude oil storage tanks, including mechanical completion verification against P&IDs, isometrics, and vendor data books. Develop and execute Mechanical Completion (MC), Pre-Commissioning, and Commissioning check-sheets in line with a Systems Completion / Completions Management database (e.g., Completions software such as SPI, Cimplicity, or equivalent). Supervise hydrostatic and pneumatic testing of tank shells, piping tie-ins, and associated static equipment, ensuring test packs are fully documented and signed off by all relevant disciplines. Coordinate flushing, blowing, and cleanliness verification of process and utility piping connected to the storage tanks prior to introduction of hydrocarbons. Interface directly with Instrumentation, Automation, Electrical, and Piping leads to sequence commissioning activities and resolve punch-list items (Category A/B/C) to closure. Witness and sign off functional testing of tank mixers, heating coils, foam systems, and any rotating/mechanical auxiliary equipment tied to the storage tanks. Prepare Method Statements, ITPs (Inspection & Test Plans), and Commissioning Procedures for client and third-party approval prior to execution. Manage the Mechanical Completion punch list and drive close-out with QA/QC and construction teams within contractual timelines. Participate in HAZOP, SIL/LOPA close-out actions, and MOC (Management of Change) processes relevant to mechanical scope. Produce daily/weekly commissioning progress reports and final Mechanical Completion Dossiers/Handover packages for client acceptance.

Qualifications and Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution; current COREN registration is mandatory. B.Eng./B.Sc. (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from a NUC/COREN-accredited or internationally ABET/Washington Accord-accredited university — Second Class Upper (2:1) or higher; no exceptions for Second Class Lower. Ten (10) years post-NYSC cognate experience in mechanical completions/commissioning of oil & gas storage or process facilities, of which at least six (6) years must be specifically on crude oil storage tank systems (API 650/653 tanks); general plant commissioning experience alone will not satisfy this requirement. A minimum of four (4) years of that experience must have been served in an OFFSHORE environment (FPSO, offshore terminal, platform, or single-point mooring facility) — onshore-only candidates need not apply. Registered/Certified member of COREN (Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria) as a practicing engineer, IN ADDITION to a recognized international body (IMechE, ASME, or equivalent). Demonstrable hands-on expertise with at least two of the following commissioning/completions software platforms: SPI, Cimplicity, Completion Manager, or an auditable equivalent, with documented evidence of use (project reference letters required, not self-declared). Valid, current certifications in: BOSIET/HUET (with CA-EBS) not more than four (4) years old, OPITO-approved Offshore Survival, Confined Space Entry & Rescue, and Working at Height — all must be renewable within the contract mobilization window. Demonstrated track record of having personally led (as lead/senior engineer, not team member) the mechanical completion of a minimum of three (3) crude/hydrocarbon storage tank projects of 10,000 bbl capacity or greater, independently verifiable via client reference contacts. Fluent, unambiguous technical English — written and spoken — sufficient to independently author and defend commissioning procedures and punch-list justifications to client and third-party auditors without supervision. Must possess a valid NUPRC/DPR-recognized offshore medical fitness certificate and be able to pass a pre-mobilization medical examination without restriction. Must be immediately available for continuous offshore rotational deployment (28 days on / 28 days off minimum) for the full contract duration.

Qualifications and professional certifications must be issued by recognised bodies, current where applicable, and independently verifiable. Expired, unverifiable, or attendance-only certificates will not satisfy a mandatory requirement. Candidates must demonstrate recent experience on comparable oil and gas projects. Generic construction experience without direct tank, terminal, refinery, process-plant or offshore exposure will not be accepted. Candidates must be able to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, inspection and test plans, permits, risk assessments and applicable codes, and must produce clear technical reports in English. Candidates must demonstrate strong process-safety awareness, stop-work discipline, quality ownership and effective collaboration in a live brownfield environment. All offshore survival, medical and safety credentials specified for the role must be valid before mobilisation. Any offer remains conditional upon medical fitness, background checks and client approval.
