NTDs Program associate

Position Overview

Under the guidance of the State Team Lead, the NTDs Program Associate will support the formulation, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of NTDs program in the State. They will ensure alignment with project objectives, prioritize goals and outcomes in the state.

Key Responsibilities

Program Planning


Collaborate with the NTDs program manager to develop and execute a comprehensive annual work-plan, identifying key activities needed to successfully implement the project in the most cost-effective manner and ensure project objectives are met in accordance with national policies, Helen Keller's goals and donor requirements.
Work with key stakeholders and the program officer to facilitate the development and implementation of detailed implementation plans (DIP) for Mass Drug Administration (MDA) and morbidity management in endemic LGAs, with the aim of eliminating and controlling NTDs.
Review the project timeline with the Program Manager and other relevant staff; revise and regularly update the schedule as needed.


Program Management


Assist the program officer in ensuring Helen Keller program partners execute project activities according to their respective plans, in collaboration with other stakeholders.
Contribute to the documentation of project activities to ensure all project data is properly secured.
Collaborate with colleagues to monitor project implementation progress and make necessary adjustments to keep the project on track and ensure successful completion.
Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders, including appropriate organizational staff, on project progress;
Work with the Helen Keller finance officer and other project staff to ensure project funds are used and accounted for according to established accounting policies and procedures.


Program Monitoring & Evaluation


Support the implementation and development of DIP/work plans for NTDs project activities in line with Helen Keller, FMOH, and donor standards, in collaboration with other staff.
Ensure that project deliverables are on time, within budget, and meet the required level of international standards set by FMOH, Helen Keller, and the donor.
Support internal and, when requested, external evaluations on project outcomes as established during the planning phase and as required.
Share findings from assessments/evaluations to promote organizational learning and contribute to policy processing or development.


Advocacy and Strategic Partnerships


Collaborate with the PO to establish and maintain strong working relationships with both government and other key project stakeholders at all levels to enhance advocacy opportunities and increase visibility;
Represent Helen Keller to local partners and at other appropriate forums.


Performance Indicators:


Successful project implementation based on:
Effective tracking and reporting of program indicators.
Implementation of annual work plans in collaboration with other project staff and government stakeholders
Timely reporting to the donor and FMOH


Minimum required education/experience/skills:


Graduate degree in public health, public administration, management or related field, or equivalent experience.
Postgraduate degree in a related field preferred
At least 3 years' experience managing a community eye health or neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) program.
Willingness to travel within the state and other parts of the country as needed.
Basic technical knowledge of PCT/IDM NTDs and Trachoma SAFE Strategy is preferable.
Knowledge of Northwest terrain, security awareness and cultures is an added advantage
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Computer proficiency: Windows applications for word processing and spreadsheet software
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to manage project communications and disseminate project information are required.
Demonstrates technical knowledge relevant to job requirements.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities;
Capable of working under pressure with minimal supervision and meeting deadlines.
Demonstrated excellent personal integrity and confidentiality.
