Job Title: Pidgin News Reader
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Employment Type: Full-time
Key Responsibilities
Presenting and Reading News: Deliver daily news bulletins, live broadcasts, or program segments clearly, fluently, and confidently in Pidgin English.
Translating and Scripting: Translate complex local, regional, and international news stories from standard English into natural, conversational, and accurate Pidgin.
Research and Fact-Checking: Gather, verify, and cross-check breaking news and daily stories from reliable sources while adhering to media regulatory standards (like the NBC in Nigeria).
Interviewing and Hosting: Conduct engaging on-air interviews with newsmakers, public figures, and community members.
Digital & Social Media Integration: Create short-form videos, audio clips, or text posts tailored for platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter).
Studio Operations: Handle basic studio recording, mixing equipment, or live console operations as required.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
Education: Minimum of an OND, NCE, or Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, or a related field (though proven talent and a strong demo reel can substitute).
Language Fluency: Exceptional command of spoken and written Nigerian Pidgin English, plus professional proficiency in English.
Voice and Presentation: A clear, pleasant on-air voice with strong public speaking, charisma, and improvisational skills during live broadcasts.
News Knowledge: Deep awareness of local, state, national, and international current affairs, politics, entertainment, and sports.
