We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Production In-Charge / Manager to oversee and coordinate the company's production operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning production activities, managing materials and resources, supervising production staff, ensuring quality and safety standards, controlling production costs, and achieving production targets efficiently. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to identify and resolve production bottlenecks while working effectively under pressure.

Develop daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on business requirements and available resources. Plan manpower, machinery, materials, and other resources required to meet production targets. Monitor production activities to ensure schedules and targets are achieved. Adjust production plans where necessary to accommodate changes in demand, material availability, or operational challenges. Identify potential production delays and take proactive measures to minimize downtime.

Oversee day-to-day production activities and ensure smooth and efficient workflow. Monitor production output, productivity, machine utilization, and operational efficiency. Ensure production processes are followed according to established procedures and standards. Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, reduce waste, and increase output. Coordinate maintenance requirements with the engineering/maintenance team to minimize equipment downtime.

Monitor availability and usage of raw materials, packaging materials, and other production inputs. Coordinate with Procurement and Stores to ensure timely availability of materials. Minimize material wastage, losses, and unnecessary consumption. Monitor material requirements against production plans and communicate shortages promptly. Support the development of efficient material usage and inventory control practices.

Prepare accurate daily production reports covering output, downtime, material usage, manpower, wastage, and other relevant production metrics. Provide regular updates to management on production performance and challenges. Maintain appropriate production records, logs, and documentation. Track production targets against actual output and investigate significant variances.

Ensure production activities consistently meet established quality standards and specifications. Work closely with the Quality Control/Quality Assurance team to identify and resolve quality issues. Investigate production defects, rejects, and customer-related quality concerns and implement corrective actions. Ensure production staff follow approved processes, procedures, and quality requirements.

Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance:

Enforce company health and safety policies across the production floor. Ensure employees use appropriate PPE and follow safe operating procedures. Identify and report unsafe conditions and ensure corrective actions are implemented. Promote a strong safety culture and participate in incident investigations where required. Ensure production activities comply with applicable company and regulatory requirements.

Supervise, coordinate, and motivate production personnel to achieve departmental targets. Allocate responsibilities and work assignments effectively. Monitor employee attendance, productivity, performance, and adherence to company policies. Identify training and development needs within the production team. Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, discipline, and continuous improvement.

Problem-Solving & Continuous Improvement:

Identify and resolve workflow delays, production bottlenecks, and operational challenges. Investigate recurring production problems and implement sustainable corrective actions. Recommend improvements to production processes, equipment utilization, manpower allocation, and workflow. Remain calm and effective when managing urgent production issues and tight deadlines.

Monitor production costs and ensure operations remain within approved budgets. Track material consumption, wastage, overtime, and other production-related expenses. Identify opportunities to reduce production costs without compromising quality or safety. Work with Procurement to negotiate or optimize material costs where required. Provide management with information on production costs and cost-saving opportunities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Work closely with Procurement, Sales, Finance, Quality Control, Maintenance, Stores, and Management to coordinate production requirements. Communicate production progress, challenges, material requirements, and expected completion timelines. Collaborate with Sales and Management to align production capacity with customer requirements. Escalate significant operational issues and recommend practical solutions.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as may reasonably be assigned by Management.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Production Management, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field. 5+ years of relevant production/manufacturing experience, with supervisory or managerial responsibility. Proven experience managing production teams and meeting production targets. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production planning. Experience with material planning, inventory control, quality management, and production reporting. Demonstrated ability to manage production costs and operational resources. Experience in a manufacturing, FMCG, industrial, or similar production environment is an advantage.
