Protection from Violence Team leader Nigeria Mubi (Protection Case Management)

If you possess these qualities, the Norwegian Refugee Council in Nigeria invites applications from motivated and experienced candidates for the position of Protection from Violence Team Leader in Mubi, Adamawa State, Area South.


Duties and Responsibilities

General responsibilities


Oversee and guide project staff.
Execute action plans for assigned Protection from Violence projects, covering activities, budgets, and documentation.
Monitor daily progress of project implementation.
Ensure adherence to NRC policies, Protection from Violence tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
Focus on assisting the most vulnerable beneficiaries and explore innovative ways to provide aid.
Contribute ideas for technical improvements.
Compile regular progress reports and other required documents.
Facilitate capacity building of project staff and transfer essential skills.
Engage with relevant local authorities and stakeholders.
Advocate for the rights of IDPs/returnees in alignment with the advocacy strategy.


Specific duties


Manage and supervise Protection from Violence case management personnel on a daily basis.
Provide technical guidance and support to protection case management staff, including approving case plans and authorizing cash and in-kind assistance. Ensure staff adhere to best practices and international standards in protection case management.
Monitor activities, assess implementation progress, propose solutions, and report issues as necessary.
Supervise awareness-raising initiatives and assist in developing effective messaging.
Manage the selection and oversight of implementing partners, including community-based organizations and committees.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders, serve as a referral focal point, and keep service maps and referral protocols up-to-date.
Oversee case management processes, including follow-up on referrals and action plans, and support services for case management clients.
Handle individual protection cases while maintaining strict confidentiality and consent protocols.
Update case files on individual developments, adhering to NRC data management protocols and ensuring the protection of beneficiary information.
Conduct protection from violence case management in accordance with NRC guidelines and tools, including intake, assessment, case plan creation and implementation, and timely follow-ups.
Offer psycho-social support to case management clients when required.
Regularly evaluate the quality of activities and the implementation of security and protection policies.

Professional competencies


Prior experience in a Protection from Violence project implementation role within a humanitarian or recovery context.
Experience working in complex and volatile environments.
Demonstrated achievements related to the position's responsibilities.
Self-awareness of leadership skills and style.
Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.


Context-specific skills, knowledge, and experience:


Familiarity with the Northeast Nigeria context
Proficiency in local languages (Hausa and Fulani)
Experience with project initiation, closure, or similar transitions
Experience in protection case management (general protection preferred, GBV or CP case management acceptable)
Experience conducting community outreach
Training in psycho-social support
Strong organizational abilities
Familiarity with case management and IPA databases
Solid understanding of data protection standards
Team management experience is advantageous
Understanding of rights and protection issues for target populations; experience working with IDPs, refugees, and returnees is beneficial
Demonstrated communication, interpersonal, and representation skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
