A science laboratory technologist provides advanced technical and analytical support in scientific research, clinical testing, and industrial laboratories.
Core Responsibilities
Testing and Analysis: Conduct complex biological, chemical, or physical tests and analyze the results.
Equipment Maintenance: Calibrate, clean, and troubleshoot specialized lab instruments to ensure accuracy.
Data Management: Record experimental data precisely and generate detailed technical reports.
Safety and Compliance: Follow strict health and safety protocols, including proper hazardous waste disposal.
Inventory Control: Monitor stock levels, manage chemical supplies, and order new resources.
Key Skills and Qualifications
Education: A Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Science Laboratory Technology, or a related scientific field.
Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with laboratory machinery, digital databases, and data analysis software.
Attention to Detail: High precision to avoid experimental errors and ensure reproducible outcomes.
Problem-Solving: Ability to identify testing complications and apply corrective scientific methods.
Must be registered with the relevant Professional body.
