Location: Nigeria (Hybrid) About the Senior Product Manager role

Our team is looking for a Senior Product Manager to own processing at Paystack. Every payment we handle depends on the channels we support and the partner rails that carry the transaction, and your job is to make that layer broader, faster, and more dependable. You'll own the payment methods and channels available to merchants and their customers, the relationships and integrations with the banks, card schemes, and processors that sit behind them, and the reliability of the processing stack they run on. This is a hands-on role requiring strong ownership, sound judgment, and the ability to operate effectively across engineering, data, and partner-facing teams. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, data, commercial, and external partners across our markets. The role reports to the Head of Product. It is strongly preferred if the candidate is based in Lagos, Nigeria.

We’ll trust you to

Own the product strategy and roadmap for payment processing at Paystack, covering channels, partner rails, and the reliability of the processing stack. Expand and improve the payment methods and channels available to merchants, including cards, bank transfers, and direct debit, across our markets. Drive improvements in transaction success rates and authorization performance across every channel we support. Own the product relationship with banks, card schemes, processors, and other partner rails, working with them to improve connectivity, performance, and coverage. Assess and prioritise new partner integrations, and make the case for where we connect next and why. Hold partners to account on performance, working with them to resolve the issues that cause transactions to fail. Own the reliability and uptime of the processing stack, and drive the work needed to keep it high as volume grows. Reduce transaction failures and improve resilience, including retries, failover, and how we handle partner downtime. Optimise transaction latency and throughput so that processing stays fast and dependable at scale. Use transaction data to identify where payments fail, slow down, or drop off by channel and by partner, and turn those insights into roadmap priorities. Define the metrics that matter for processing, such as success rate, authorization rate, latency, and uptime, and hold the team and our partners to them. Translate merchant and market needs into clear product requirements for channel and partner work. Make trade-off decisions across coverage, performance, cost, and reliability. Partner with commercial and market teams to support the expansion of payment capabilities into new markets.

You’ll thrive in this role if you have

6+ years of product management experience, with a strong track record of shipping complex, technical products. Prior experience with payments, financial infrastructure, or other high-scale transactional systems is a strong asset. Experience working with external partners such as banks, processors, or card schemes, and the ability to hold them to a performance standard. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to work directly with transaction data to find and prioritise problems. Technical fluency; comfortable working closely with engineers on the systems that process payments, and reasoning about performance, resilience, and reliability trade-offs. Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills. Strong project management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple workstreams at once, follow through, and meet deadlines. Action- and results-oriented, with the ability to demonstrate good judgment in a fast-paced, high-growth, dynamic environment. Sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. An open and curious mind about an evolving industry, humility, and a terrific sense of humor. Ability to deal effectively with a variety of individuals at all organizational levels.
