We are seeking a responsible, organized, and detail-oriented Store In-Charge to oversee the day-to-day operations of the company's store/warehouse. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, receiving and issuing materials, ensuring proper storage and organization of stock, supervising store personnel, and providing timely inventory reports to management. The ideal candidate should have good knowledge of inventory management, stock control procedures, and warehouse operations, with a strong focus on accuracy, accountability, and proper documentation.
Monitor stock levels and ensure adequate availability of materials and goods. Record and track all incoming and outgoing stock accurately. Maintain up-to-date inventory records and stock registers. Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile physical quantities with inventory records. Identify stock shortages, excesses, damaged items, and discrepancies and report them promptly. Monitor stock movement to prevent loss, misuse, or unauthorized issuance. Ensure proper documentation for all stock receipts and issues.
Ensure all materials and goods are properly labeled, tagged, and stored. Maintain a clean, organized, and easily accessible store/warehouse. Implement and maintain FIFO (First-In, First-Out) procedures where applicable. Ensure materials are stored appropriately according to their nature and handling requirements. Maintain proper segregation of damaged, expired, rejected, or obsolete stock. Ensure store operations comply with relevant safety and housekeeping requirements.
Receive incoming deliveries and verify quantities and specifications against approved Purchase Orders, delivery notes, and other relevant documents. Inspect delivered goods for visible damage, shortages, or discrepancies. Report incorrect, damaged, or incomplete deliveries to Procurement and Management promptly. Ensure all received items are properly documented, labeled, and stored. Coordinate with suppliers, procurement personnel, and other relevant departments regarding delivery issues.
Issue materials, equipment, and other items only against approved requisitions or authorized requests. Maintain accurate records of all stock issued to departments and production operations. Ensure proper authorization and documentation before releasing stock. Monitor frequently used materials and communicate replenishment requirements in good time. Support Production, Maintenance, Procurement, and other departments with timely material availability.
Coordinate and supervise the daily activities of store/warehouse assistants and other store personnel. Assign daily tasks and ensure efficient workflow. Monitor staff attendance, productivity, discipline, and adherence to store procedures. Train and guide store staff on proper handling, storage, documentation, and safety procedures. Promote teamwork, accountability, and proper care of company inventory.
Prepare daily stock movement and inventory reports for Management. Maintain records of goods received, goods issued, stock balances, and adjustments. Prepare reports on stock shortages, damaged goods, slow-moving items, and other inventory concerns. Ensure all store documentation is complete, accurate, and properly filed. Provide management with timely information on inventory levels and replenishment requirements.
Ensure the store is maintained in a safe, clean, and orderly condition. Ensure proper handling and storage of materials to minimize damage and workplace hazards. Follow company policies and procedures relating to inventory, security, safety, and warehouse operations. Report safety hazards, losses, damages, and other irregularities immediately.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as may reasonably be assigned by Management.
Qualifications & Experience
OND, HND, or equivalent qualification in Accounting, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Inventory Management, or a related field. 2–4 years of relevant experience in stores, inventory, warehouse, or stock management. Experience using stock/inventory management systems or basic inventory software is an advantage. Good understanding of stock control, FIFO, goods receiving, and stock issuance procedures. Previous experience supervising store or warehouse personnel is an advantage. Good numerical, organizational, and record-keeping skills. Ability to work accurately with minimal supervision.
