Jaza is a solar energy start-up working to power Sub-Saharan Africa. We build solar-powered shops which charge batteries customers use to power their homes. In 2022, we achieved over 1.5 million battery swaps, providing approximately 186,000 people access to clean, affordable energy. We employ women from each community (known as Jaza Stars) to run the service, empowering our team to become leaders, entrepreneurs and drivers of economic growth within their communities. We’ve already successfully entered the Nigerian market, piloted several sites here and will grow to hundreds of locations over the next year. To support this expansion, we’re planning to hire over 200 people over the next 6 months. We are  recruiting to fill the position below:

 Job Title: Technical Project Coordinator

Location: Lagos Position Overview

Strategic technical lead for Jaza's 2026 expansion initiative, coordinating all technical aspects of validation-to-scale operations across up to 10 new African markets. Ensures technical standards, safety protocols, and system performance requirements are maintained across markets while adapting to local contexts.

Roles And Responsibilities

The Technical Project Coordinator’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Own technical execution across validation, pilot, and scale-up phases Coordinate with Group Supply Chain, Tech Operations, vendors on equipment availability Develop technical project plans: procurement, installation, commissioning, maintenance Synthesize technical learnings to refine playbooks Provide technical input to market selection decisions

Manage Regional Service Engineers across validation units in multiple markets Coordinate technical deployment: tools, equipment, safety gear, training, vendor identification Monitor technical performance through check-ins, system data, uptime tracking Facilitate technical knowledge sharing between teams Address technical performance or safety concerns rapidly

Establish and maintain technical SOPs for installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting Track technical KPIs: uptime, reliability, time to resolution, equipment failures Conduct technical audits of installations to verify safety and quality before go-live Identify technical blockers: supply chain failures, equipment quality, infrastructure constraints Manage technical crisis response: system failures, safety incidents, root cause, prevention

Partner with Supply Chain on equipment feasibility (Red/Yellow/Green assessments) Identify and qualify local technical vendors: solar suppliers, electricians, contractors Manage technical procurement for market-specific requirements and alternatives Coordinate equipment inventory: warehousing, distribution, tracking, replenishment Ensure compliance with import regulations, safety certifications, standards

Prepare technical briefings for stakeholders on feasibility, performance, readiness Provide technical recommendations on pilot selection by scoring against technical criteria Report on technical achievements, challenges, resource requirements, implications Translate technical complexities into actionable insights Serve as the primary escalation for technical issues requiring executive awareness

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Electronics, or related technical discipline

2–4 years of experience in troubleshooting and maintaining electrical or renewable energy systems Experience working with: Battery systems Solar PV systems Power electronics Charging infrastructure

Hands-On Experience:

Proven experience managing technical operations and uptime in field environments Experience with preventive maintenance and field troubleshooting

Data-Driven Mindset:

Strong analytical and reporting capability Ability to interpret operational trends and performance data

Problem-Solving Skills:

Ability to diagnose complex technical issues and implement timely solutions Strong root cause analysis capability

Strong verbal and written communication skills Bilingual French and English Speaker Ability to coordinate across field teams and stakeholders

Self-motivated with strong ownership mindset Ability to coach and guide field teams effectively
