Job Title: Training Coordinator, STRIDE Program

Location: Ede, Osun (On-site)

Position Type: Contract, renewable annually

Reports To: Deputy Director, Training and Capacity Building About the Program

STRIDE (Scientific Training and Research in Infectious Disease Genomics and Entrepreneurship) is a six-year, pan-African workforce development program designed to strengthen Africa’s health systems by building a new generation of genomics and bioinformatics professionals. Led by the Institute of Genomics and Global Health (IGH) at Redeemer’s University in partnership with the University of Cape Town, University of Yaoundé I, and Villgro Africa, STRIDE aims to train and equip approximately 5,100 young African scientists and health professionals to transition into dignified, sustainable careers across disease surveillance, research, diagnostics, and biotech innovation. The program addresses Africa’s critical shortage of genomics expertise through three integrated pathways: internationally accredited MSc and PhD training with guaranteed professional placements, intensive skills and upskilling programs for early- and mid-career professionals, and bioentrepreneurship education supporting the development of locally driven health innovations. By strengthening faculty capacity at emerging universities and building employment pipelines with national public health institutions, STRIDE contributes to an Africa-led genomics ecosystem that advances health sovereignty, innovation, and improved health outcomes across the continent.

Description

STRIDE is seeking an experienced Training Coordinator to lead its academic and professional training programs across Africa. The Training Coordinator will work closely with academic partners, faculty, and program leadership to support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of STRIDE’s training portfolio, including MSc and PhD programs, postdoctoral fellowships, genomics bootcamps, technical short courses, and leadership fellowships. Work with faculty and subject-matter experts to develop training curricula, course materials, and learning objectives aligned with emerging advances in genomics and bioinformatics. Support the integration of interdisciplinary topics such as computational biology, genomic surveillance, outbreak response, AI-enabled modelling, and research translation. Coordinate training schedules, instructors, and program timelines to ensure training activities remain on track across the program’s implementation period.

Fellowship and Faculty Development Programs:

Coordinate the Genomics Leadership Fellowship curriculum and training program for institutional leaders in public health agencies, research institutions, and laboratories. Ensure fellows contribute to strengthening mentorship, teaching capacity, and institutional genomics expertise across the STRIDE network.

Training Quality Assurance and Program Management:

Monitor the quality and effectiveness of training programs, incorporating feedback from trainees, instructors, and institutional partners to continuously improve course content and delivery. Work closely with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Lead to track training outcomes and ensure alignment with program objectives. Maintain training documentation, program schedules, and curriculum records across STRIDE interventions.

Partner and Faculty Engagement:

Coordinate closely with senior faculty, instructors, and partner institutions to support program delivery and collaboration across the STRIDE network. Facilitate communication between academic institutions, instructors, and STRIDE program leadership, including working closely with the STRIDE Program Manager,  to ensure effective implementation of training programs. Support the development of STRIDE’s pan-African network of genomics educators, trainers, and institutional partners.
