 Job Title: Waiter

Employment Type: Full-time Job Purpose

To provide efficient, courteous, and professional food and beverage service to guests in accordance with the hotel’s service standards, while ensuring guest satisfaction and a clean, safe, and welcoming dining environment.

Welcome and attend to guests in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner. Present menus, explain available food and beverage options, and provide recommendations when required. Take guests’ food and beverage orders accurately and promptly. Enter orders correctly into the appropriate system/POS and communicate special requests or dietary requirements to the kitchen. Serve food and beverages according to established hotel service standards. Check on guests during their meals to ensure satisfaction and respond promptly to additional requests. Clear, clean, and reset tables promptly after guests have finished dining. Maintain cleanliness and proper arrangement of the restaurant, dining areas, service stations, and assigned work areas. Ensure all service equipment, cutlery, crockery, glassware, and other items are clean and properly arranged. Assist with restaurant setup before service and closing procedures after service. Handle guest complaints or concerns professionally and report unresolved issues to the Supervisor or Manager. Upsell food and beverage items appropriately to maximize guest satisfaction and departmental revenue. Ensure all guest requests are attended to promptly and professionally. Maintain proper knowledge of the hotel’s food and beverage menus, promotions, prices, and service procedures. Comply with all food safety, hygiene, HACCP, health and safety regulations and hotel standards. Handle hotel property, equipment, food, beverages, and guest belongings responsibly. Process bills and payments accurately where required and follow established cash-handling procedures. Maintain a professional appearance and comply with the hotel’s grooming and uniform standards. Attend departmental briefings, training sessions, and meetings as required. Work effectively with colleagues and other departments to ensure smooth hotel operations. Report damaged equipment, shortages, maintenance issues, or other operational concerns to the Supervisor. Follow all hotel policies, procedures, rules, and standards at all times. Perform any other duties reasonably assigned by the Supervisor, F&B Manager, or Management.

Guest Service Expectations

Demonstrate genuine hospitality and a positive attitude towards guests. Be attentive, responsive, and proactive in identifying guest needs. Use appropriate language and professional body language when interacting with guests. Avoid arguing with or speaking rudely to guests. Offer suitable alternatives when a guest’s requested item is unavailable. Escalate guest complaints promptly rather than dismissing or ignoring them. Maintain confidentiality regarding guests and hotel operations. Consistently look for opportunities to enhance the guest experience.
