Job Title: Commercial Officer
Location: Apapa, Lagos
Role Overview
Manage documentation, regulatory compliance, and customs liaison for efficient cargo clearance at our Apapa office.
Key ResponsibilitiesDocumentation Management: Prepare and submit Form M, PAAR, bill of lading, invoices, and packing lists.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to Nigeria Customs and trade laws.
Customs Liaison: Handle inspections and resolve tariff classification queries.
Duty Assessment & Payment: Calculate and facilitate accurate duty/tax payments.
Permit Procurement: Secure permits from NAFDAC, SON, DPR, etc.
Operational Support: Coordinate with shipping lines and haulage providers for timely delivery.
Client Reporting: Provide regular status updates to clients and management.
Key Performance IndicatorsKPIs include timely duty assessment, accurate documentation, and reduction of demurrage costs.
Requirements & Skills
Experience: Minimum 4 years in a Nigerian clearing and forwarding company.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or related field.
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of HS Codes and regulatory processes.
Software Proficiency: MS Office (Excel, Word) and automated customs systems.
Skills: Strong negotiation, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
