Location: Epe, Lagos

Employment Type: Full-time

Department: Stores / Inventory

The Storekeeper is responsible for receiving, storing, issuing, and monitoring all goods and supplies purchased by the hotel. The primary objective is to ensure proper inventory control, prevent waste and theft, maintain accurate records, and ensure that all departments receive the items they need.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Receiving of Goods

Receive goods and supplies delivered by approved suppliers. Check quantities, quality, specifications, and expiry dates against purchase orders and delivery notes. Report shortages, damaged goods, or discrepancies immediately. Ensure that all received items are properly documented.

Storage and Organisation

Arrange goods neatly in designated storage areas. Ensure the store is clean, secure, dry, and well ventilated. Store food items, chemicals, beverages, and other supplies separately where necessary. Apply the FIFO (First In, First Out) and FEFO (First Expired, First Out) methods to minimise spoilage and expiry.

Issuing of Goods

Issue goods only upon receipt of an authorised requisition. Ensure items issued correspond with approved quantities. Obtain signatures from authorised staff collecting supplies. Record every item issued to the appropriate department.

Inventory Control

Maintain accurate daily stock records. Monitor stock levels and identify items requiring replenishment. Conduct regular physical stock counts. Reconcile physical stock with inventory records and report discrepancies. Prevent overstocking, stockouts, wastage, and unauthorised withdrawals.

Record Keeping and Documentation

Maintain stock cards, bin cards, goods received notes, and store requisition forms. Keep records of purchases, receipts, issues, returns, and damaged goods. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly stock reports as required. Ensure all stock movements are properly documented and traceable.

Monitoring Expiry Dates and Wastage

Regularly inspect perishable and time-sensitive items. Identify expired, damaged, or deteriorating goods. Report such items to management and obtain approval before disposal. Minimise losses through proper storage and stock rotation.

Coordination with Other Departments

Work closely with the Kitchen, Restaurant, Bar, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and Accounts departments. Ensure timely supply of approved items to departments. Verify departmental requisitions and report unusual or excessive requests.

Security and Accountability

Ensure that only authorised personnel have access to the store. Keep store keys and inventory records secure. Prevent theft, pilferage, unauthorised issuance, and misuse of hotel supplies. Report suspicious stock movements or shortages to management immediately.

Stock Replenishment

Reporting to Management

Submit regular stock reports and inventory summaries. Report shortages, excess stock, damaged items, and unusual consumption. Provide supporting documents during internal and external audits. Comply with the hotel's procurement, inventory, and financial control policies.
